benzylene.com is devoted to help organic chemistry students by providing an easier-to-read online source of information. The language is mcuh less formal than a textbook's but still utilizes some chemistry terms throughout to facilitate the student's understanding of the terminology.
The site contains articles on the basic ideas of organic chemistry as well as brief reaction summaries highlighting the important points of each reaction with its mechanism. It is hoped that with less text to dig through, as well as a color scheme, these important details will stand out more.
The focus is on creating a thorough understanding of the material - although the site is a good reference source for students studying for the MCAT or other chemistry-related exams, the prose is geared toward explaining why the concepts are the way they are. The development of the topics is quite different from that of a textbook, but it is my conception of how the topics should be introduced to a student with only general chemistry as his background.
